The following courses are the required core courses for the M.E. programs:
Program of Study
The program of study has to be defined with the agreement of an appropriate advisor. Changes in the program of study are only allowed with the permission of the advisor and the graduate director. The changes have to be made at least one semester before the expected completion of the new program of study. In the preparation of the program of study, the following requirements also have to be considered:
- Maximum hours outside of department (12 hours)
- Minimum hours at 700 and above in electrical engineering (15 hours)
- Maximum number of hours of ELCT 897 - Directed Individual Study| (6 hours)
- ELCT 797 will not count toward the degree.
Additional Information:
Students enrolled in the M.E. program are required to pass a comprehensive assessment examination, which will assess the student’s ability to apply knowledge of science and mathematics to solving electrical engineering problems. The Graduate Director, by examining the student’s Program of Study, will assign a two (2) graduate faculty members to administer the comprehensive exam by oral and/or written questioning of the student. For more information, please visit www.ee.sc.edu/Grad/NewMEComprehensiveExam.pdf. As a summary and guideline, typical programs of study for the M.E. degree are:
Hours outside the department or 500 level in electrical engineering (6 Hours)
